The Hotel Kämp is housed in a lovely neo-classical building with an opulent façade, which dates from 1887. It has the distinction of having been the first truly deluxe hotel in Scandinavia. Much of its appeal, nowadays, resides in its gorgeous public areas, particularly the grand central staircase, original entrance area, library area, and beautiful dark wood bar with humorous phrases carved on the walls. The 179 guestrooms are decorated in a traditional 19th century style, using dark wood furnishings, rich fabrics and warm autumnal colour schemes. The marble bathrooms are equipped with heated floors, bathrobes and slippers. The hotel’s Kämp Café is a Café and Restaurant in Grand European tradition. It serves several menus throughout the day - the evening à la carte menu being very much in the brasserie tradition, offering broad range of European dishes. In the Yume restaurant, Chef Hirokazu Kamijukkoku has combined Japanese and Scandinavian traditions into something completely new and refreshing. Yume is built around the four seasons. As the seasons change, so do the menu, the wine list, the décor and the flower arrangements, along with dozens of other details. Guests can also dine on a terrace on the sunny side of the Esplanade, open during the summer months.
